MUSIC ♦ ENTERTAINMENT ♦ THOUGHTS
“As we crossed Blackwell’s Island, a limousine passed us, driven by a white chauffeur, in which sat three modish Negroes, two bucks and a girl. I laughed aloud as the yolks of their eyeballs rolled toward us in haughty rivalry.” - The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
This moment in the movie stuck with me - black people don’t play a huge part in this story so I feel like the symbolism by making sure this one line of the book made it in the movie and having Jay Z playing while they were partying in the back seat made a point: We were there, and we weren’t all poor servants.
